The death of the world's most wanted terrorist marks an end to the long search for the mastermind behind the 9/11 attack on the USA.  His death brings Americans a sense of relief, and hopefully, some long overdue closure for the families of the victims of the 9/11 attack. We have heard heartbreaking stories over the years of the suffering of these families; wives left without husbands, husbands without wives, parents without their children, and even more sadly, children without parents. 

President Obama states that bin Laden's death means the world "is a safer place today" and that it was "a good day for America."  Osama bin Laden's body was cleansed and buried at sea.  The reason for this is because Islamic tradition calls for a body to be buried within 24 hours, but finding a country willing to accept the remains of the world's most wanted terrorist who had long been officially rejected by his native Saudi Arabia, would have been difficult, a senior administration official said.

The Navy SEALs who acted on authority by the United States president are to commended for a job well done.  They truly are American heroes.

Whether the death of bin Laden makes the world a safer place is yet to be seen.  Yes, he spearheaded the Al-Queda movement, but my sense is there are plenty of willing bin Laden loyalist standing ready to take his place as the #1 man in charge of their mission against the USA.  Many of his followers will want to avenge his death.
